What is solution focused hypnotherapy?

Solution focus hypnotherapy uses modern, practical and positive techniques to help you make changes in a relatively short amount of time. It is a form of talking therapy based in neuroscience and using elements of Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Neuro Linguistic Programming and Solution Focused Brief Therapy. Through solution focused hypnotherapy we focus on making positives changes, concentrating on the present and future. We look at what is is you want to achieve instead of the problem that led you to seek therapy. Together we will help you to visualise and work towards the outcomes you want to achieve.

What is trance?

Trance is very ordinary in may ways. We go in and out of trance lots of times on a daily basis- when we are concentrating, watching tv, at the gym. It is a natural state which you are in control of. Trance allows your conscious and unconscious mind to come together in focus through relaxation. You are then able to use the resources of the subconscious mind to make positive and forward looking decisions.

What happens in a session?

Therapy sessions follow the same format each week as our brain like repetition and familiarity. We will use positive talking to focus on the good and get you into the prefrontal cortex. We will start by celebrating what has gone well in you week. We will work together to find your own solutions to problems. We will not focus on the past or the negatives in your life, so if you would like this to be part of your therapy then SFH is probably not right for you.

The second part of your session with be hypnosis. This will allow your subconscious mind time to consider and consolidate what we have talked about, working through problems and positive solutions.
